Best sleep ever

Last night I had the best sleep in I don’t know how many years. I slept for just about 10 hours. That is unheard of for me.

I average about 6 hours a night. Even though I go to bed at about 8.30 I’m usually not asleep until about 10 or 11 and then I wake quite a few times during the night and get out of bed at 5.

Poor sleep last week

It must have been the really interesting week I’ve had and all that goes into hosting a meeting with delegates from around the world. Sleep has not been the best quality during the week, and Friday at the hospital was also full on. I had a marvellous afternoon with some scholars who wanted to know more about what happens in a microbiology laboratory. In fact, one of them was a colleague from my main job and she’s also the person who inspired me to start my podcast, viz., Medical Fun Facts.

After such a good sleep, I sprang out of bed, did the shopping and then enjoyed a nice walk around Lake Ginninderra.

Daylight saving ends tonight

I just realised this is a bonus weekend too. Daylight saving ends tonight. Yipee! I’m not a fan. We should be like Queensland in Canberra and stay on Australian Eastern Standard Time.

It will be good to be back in the same time zone as my daughters. Telephone calls and text messaging will be much easier.

Sleep will be something I hope to improve upon over winter. It is so important, I wish I did it better.

How do you sleep?

Are you a good sleeper? How many hours do you sleep? Are you a morning person like me or a night owl? Feel free to leave a comment.

Have a good one.

  1. It took me years to finally realize the amazing feeling of a good night’s sleep. I am usually in bed by 9 and up at 5. Though I toss and turn here and there, most of the time I’m refreshed in the morning. I could relate to much in your post 🙂 Great writing!

    1. Thank you very much. A good night’s sleep happens maybe once a week. A great night’s sleep like the other night is a rare event. It was worth writing about 😃

  2. I am a cat. I love sleeping. And I like being awake at night. However, with being a full time care giver 24/7, my cat patterns are more catlike and I nap a great deal. I also was on an anti diet pepsi thing before I came back to Alaska in November. That didn’t last long once I returned. Being a person with Diabetes and MS and being a care giver is a pain in the butt for sleep. And I do NOT like DST. It often makes no sense living in Alaska. And I’ve been here for almost a 9 months this time around. (I came up in mid July and left in mid October and got back here November 3). The 2 and 1/2 weeks I was in my house in Oregon don’t really count as being gone from here.

    1. I’ve always been a morning person. Oddly enough I didn’t mind doing night duty though.

    2. It is because you are on the other side of the world. Here, you’d be a night person!!! Mornings are best enjoyed few and far between!!!

  3. Nothing more delicious than amazing sleep! Lucky you! I had amazing sleep last night, too! Have a lovely day! Hey what time is it where you are? It’s 10:26 am, Saturday morning here (pacific standard time, US).

    1. Hello there, I didn’t have the same length of sleep as the night before but with the extra hour with DLS finishing, I’m up and about 😃
