Ginger nut or Scotch finger?

Ginger nut or Scotch finger?

Given a choice what would you prefer? Ginger nut or Scotch finger? I’m talking about Arnott’s biscuits. Specifically, I’m taking about chocolate bars with Arnott’s Ginger nut and Arnott’s Scotch finger biscuit inside.

One more lap around the sun

One more lap around the sun

One more lap around the sun, I had a birthday this week.

I woke up to a Facebook Messenger message left by a fellow blogger who shares my birth date.

Mortein surface spray for killing cockroaches in Canberra this season #qlder #origin #rugbyleague #greatestgameofall

This blogger is a night owl and often doesn’t go to bed until 3.30 am so left me a message knowing I’d be asleep. I replied when I got out of bed shortly after 4 am.

Mandolins are bloody dangerous

I’ll get to the bloody dangerous Mandolins later in this post.

Public holidays

It’s been a fun week. Monday and Thursday were public holidays here in Australia. Unlike many countries, we not only have a gazetted holiday for Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but the following Monday is also a gazetted holiday. Traditionally, a four day Easter break was used by many families to take a break and visit the beach.

Good Friday traditions and my weight goes up

Good Friday traditions and my weight goes up

Do you have Good Friday traditions? I started one a couple of years ago when I cooked beef ribs and broke a tooth. I did it last year too sans broken tooth though. Each time I cooked the beef ribs in the oven, this year I went with the slow cooker.

Check out this year’s cook towards the end of this post.

Let us make your space ace

Let us make your space ace is the tagline for MJ Cleaning & Home maintenance

I have a rental inspection this week and I’ve let things go a little (well, I’ve let the balcony and patio go quite a bit).

I know Jane from MJ Cleaning & Home maintenance from my workplace. Jane and Matt did a terrific job.

This is the review I wrote for them on their Facebook page.

Review of MJ Cleaning & Home Maintenance | Jane and Matt are supreme beings of the universe who are superbly zen

Declaration: I know Jane through my workplace.

As a long term renter with biannual inspections, I occasionally feel the need to get assistance with some tasks. I get lazy when it comes to maintaining the tiles, screens, windows, and doors along with the leaf litter and staining which sometimes occurs.

Jane and Matt came to my place armed with their cleaning accoutrements and in two hours made a large balcony and small patio look like new. The tiles are pristine, the screens are free of dust and lint, and the windows are crystal clear.

A couple of weeks ago, Jane was able to perform a quote for the work after viewing photographs and a couple of short videos. The quoted price was well under the price I had paid some years ago when I needed help.

The great thing about Jane and Matt is that they’re both super friendly and super positive people. They arrived on time and they went about the task with a smile and I could hear their friendly chatter with one another focused on getting the job done properly. They work well as a team and the time seemed to fly by and all I was doing was watching them. In chatting with Jane, she was explaining how they also do home maintenance including small painting jobs and even some gardening work.

I have no hesitation in recommending MJ cleaning & home maintenance for jobs around your place. If you check out their Facebook page you’ll find their contact details and if you frequent the Canberra Notice Board Group Jane posts about once a week to let members know about their service. Their tagline is “Let us make your space ace”.

Goodbye Daylight Saving (DLS), How I hate you

Goodbye Daylight Saving (DLS), How I hate you

The Owl Statue on Sunday morning Prisma

Goodbye daylight saving, I really don’t like daylight saving. I’m an early morning person and I don’t care about having light at the end of the day. I don’t exercise outside after work, I don’t socialise with anyone after work, all I need is light and heat so I can cook and eat.

The footy season has started

The footy season has started

Benjamin Way, Belconnen

Round one of the National Rugby League (NRL) season for 2019 began on Thursday evening. The Brisbane Broncos (the team I support) played the Melbourne Storm (my number three team in the competition). Unfortunately, the Storm defeated the Broncos convincingly.
