Weight goals
Last year my aim was to break the 77 kilogram barrier. A week in Norfolk Island and then a delicious Christmas and New Year period thwarted my dreams.
I got close a few times last year but didn’t really dip below the goal weight.
January 2020 was looking okay then I had the little impediment to my exercise routine. It’s still mucking up my head and the extra work around 2019-nCoV has meant extended hours every day so I haven’t made exercise a priority anyway.
The one thing about a really busy workplace is that lunch breaks are pushed back and getting home late means a lack of desire to eat much. It does mean occasionally the caloric intake is minimal.
One day this week, I did dip below the 77 kilogram mark. Of course I celebrated with potato scallops from the local takeaway so the next morning my weight was >77 kilograms.
Potato scallops
I count it as a win and it’s made me happier and more hopeful I can push my weight further down into that 76 to 77 kilogram zone.
Body Mass Index
My ideal BMI means my ideal weight should be between 52 and 71 kilograms. That’s a really tall order in my opinion. Who knows how long it will get there. At 77 kilograms, according to the ‘experts’ I’m overweight.
What I watched this week
Star Trek: Picard
I did watch episode 2 of season 1 of Star Trek: Picard. “Maps and Legends“.
The writers are really packing in a lot of information into each episode which makes me think if Picard would have the same success as previous series which were released free to air (I’m thinking TOS, TAS, and TNG especially). These new episodes (I’m thinking DISCO and PIC) are so full of information, a blink can mean missing some vital visual frame or having a boiling kettle whistle could spoil a critical sound bite. It’s a good thing these days this sort of television is streamed on-line so I can stop, rewind, watch again, and then do it again if I need to if I’ve missed something.
There was one scene this week when a Borg was being dissected that I had to watch a few times to appreciate what was happening.
Truth is, this week, when I’ve been getting home I’ve being logging in to the work IT system so I can continue working into the evening. My ability to concentrate on TV is not good, so I’ve watched this episode three times.
What I listened to this week
ABC News Radio and Parliament
I’m not a great fan of listening to the ABC or even watching the ABC. I find all journalism these days to be biased and motivated to influence rather than inform.
I’ve had to keep my ear on the news and parliament though for work.
What I have photographed this week
It’s a sad fact that I’ve done very little with a camera or the camera sensor on my smartphone.
Here are some photographs in a gallery which you can scroll through after clicking on one image.
Yummy Lummy
Triple pork when one or two types of pork isn’t good enough
Yay, after a pretty poor effort last weekend, I got something up this weekend. It was a triple pork fried cauliflower rice dish for Saturday evening tea.
Final thoughts
- Do you celebrate a weight goal by eating something unhealthy?
- What sort of news journalism do you like?
- Do you think TV producers these days pack too much in knowing you will stream the show and rewind and watch again at your leisure?
Celebrating with potato scollops – I love them…but am sure that is not the way to celebrate Gary – .ha ha – but then again why not!! I love them on white fresh bread with tomato sauce.
I’ve never had a potato scallop on bread with tomato sauce but now I want to try that.
I struggle to keep my weight at the ideal level and yes I do treat myself to something special when I manage to reach my weight goal.
I think I need to choose more healthy treats 😃
