It’s been a week of meetings and more Facebook and Instagram shennigans.
Meetings meetings meetings
[maxbutton id=”10″ ]
This week I attended all-day meetings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and then on Friday I had to participate in a teleconference. It’s not as if my week isn’t normally spent in lots of meetings, but it’s not usually four consecutive days of separate meetings that are scheduled for the entire work day. Fortunately, all these gatherings were high quality and productive.
The one potential downside though of lots of day-long meetings is meeting-food. While meeting-food can be healthful and nutritious, there are usually tempting offerings which are not the most nutritious or healthful. So this week, I avoided scones with jam and cream, party pies and sausage rolls, as well as chocolate chip biscuits. I did eat sliced fruit and some cheese.
Weight loss progress
This week has seen a few days below the 78 kilogram mark. the nadir was 77.6 kilogram.
I wonder if I can breach 77 kilograms before the end of 2019.
Facebook drama continues
So I’ve now been released from Facebook jail and I can post to and share some links and participate in groups. However, my food blog, viz., Yummy Lummy, has been barred from Facebook because it breaches community standards. I mean, how can a food blog breach Facebook’s community standards? It feels like someone or a group of people have decided to report my blog to Facebook. It also means I cannot share links in Instagram because Facebook owns Instagram and the disciplinary action crosses over. I wonder what might happen is I try to share a link with someone via WhatsApp given Facebook also owns WhatsApp. I haven’t tried it yet.
There are some trolls who have targeted me before. I have a feeling about who these people are. It reflects more on them than it does on me. If that’s how they want to behave, so be it. I’ll still carry on happy with my life and happy with what I do. Trolls and haters are small insignificant specks, pimples on the arse of society. Given my predilection for grander examples of purulence, trolls and haters, and the people who have reported my blog to Facebook are like perianal abscesses. Pus under pressure and covered in the brown malodorous waste which results from removing all the good material from food and all the water which is vital for life.
What have I watched this week?
Fleabag
Fleabag is a British comedy from the BBC. The show centres around a central character, Fleabag played by the shows creator, Phoebe Waller-Bridge who has also appeared in a Star Wars movie and another hit series, viz., Killing Eve. Fleabag runs a cafe, has a lot of sex with different men and women, is in a difficult relationship with her sister, and her godmother is having sex with her father after her mother died with breast carcinoma. Fleabag shares her thoughts out loud so viewers know exactly what she’s thinking, whether it be her thoughts about her godmother, her father, her sister, her brother-in-law, or any of her numerous sexual partners while she is engaged in sexual congress.
This show won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I found it hilarious. There’s a lot of swearing. I don’t remember any nudity. It shares some confronting ideas though.
What have I listened to this week?
Meet the Microbiologist
The take home for me was being grateful to Julie for making the distinction between microbiota and microbiome clear.
- Microbiota represents all the organisms that live within a community: archaea, bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
- Microbiome is the genomes or transcriptomes of these organisms.

Yes, if people buy from this link I get a reward.
Meetings; don’t miss those! I started watching Fleabag on a friend’s recommendation. I enjoyed it also Gary.
I use Facebook only for connecting with some of my friends and family. It is also useful if restaurants you plan to visit only have a Facebook page, no website, you can then access their menu through Facebook.
I am impressed with your steady progress on your weight loss. Well done.
Thank you very much Heather
I really don’t understand Facebook and the way they manage complaints. Their lack of transparency is the biggest issue. At least if you knew what the issue was you could so something about it. It does annoy me the inertia Facebook has. I don’t use it much, but there are people there I want to connect with, I’m still annoyed they bought Instagram.
I started Fleabag! The first episode was very good, I just have so many things to watch I haven’t gone back to it yet, but I will do.
Thanks Tim. I’ve decided I will put less effort into Facebook. It remains useful for connecting with some distant friends and family.
So far there remains only two seasons of Fleabag, but I enjoyed each episode.
Sometimes meetings can be fun, it just depends on who happens to be attending. I don’t do meetings now. But, when I volunteered, I went often.
I enjoy most British humor…even if I miss where it’s going at times!
Facebook is annoying. And that’s all I have to say.
I’ve been contemplating getting off Facebook. The problem is I have a few friends and family on Facebook. I may just give up sharing food photos and videos.
I have friends there from many walks of my life..more acquaintances. But, it’s where we connect. It’s not my favorite place, even if it appears to be!
I wish there were better options.
