Easter 2020

Happy Easter if you’re into Easter. If you don’t observe Easter or if you don’t celebrate the time for any religious reason I hope you have some downtime.

IT solutions

I missed posting last week. It was just too busy last weekend. This weekend has been a little quieter but I’ve been able to work from home and attend teleconferences and answer questions for work.

Having some reasonable IT solutions has been very helpful and I have really appreciated the IT support officials from work who have been flat out helping people with new equipment and helping so many people get connected from their homes.

Nutrition and wellbeing

I was listening to a nutritionist on the radio this morning discuss her concerns about the weight gain associated with spending every day inside with little opportunity to go outside and move.

Weight ups and downs

My own weight has been up and down. On weekends when I can eat in a more relaxed manner and when I can satisfy my needs with immediate gratification, my weight has trended up. During the week with meetings clustered during the middle of the day and then a large amount of work to do in the afternoon and early evening, my eating hasn’t been great.

What have I watched this week?

On Good Friday after eating a stick of butter and a couple of hot cross buns for second breakfast and a hot cross bun and Vegemite for lunch, I watched the movie Midway.

I really like war movies, especially World War Two movies from the Pacific theatre.

The great thing about this movie was the focus on military intelligence, especially the value of signals intelligence in helping win battles.

What have I eaten this week?

I’ve eaten quite well at night and over the Easter weekend (at least on Friday and Saturday) I’ve eaten superbly.

Blogging this week

I haven’t done anything on Yummy Lummy but I did share some beef cheek recipes on Random Yummy. Feel free to check them out.

Final thoughts

  • How was your week?
  • What have you been up to this Easter?
  • How is the physical distancing going?

  1. I think I am def eating more than usual Gary, and not awfully healthy on all occasions but still walking a lot every day. I do note your hot cross bun with the Vegemite is a tad burnt; wonder if you like them like that?

    1. Thanks, Sue. Given it’s a sweet bun, it’s caramelised. Albeit heavily caramelised. I do like it the salty bitterness and sweetness go together oddly.

  2. I’m so annoyed, you don’t show up in my feed at the moment. PIFFLE!
Anyway, things are about normal. I don’t see anyone but my family. I hang out online, I visit the yard rarely, and I read and clean. About the only thing I do not do that I used to is shop. Since the spouse is in town every day working, he does that.
Easter was interesting, I made dinner and sent up a bag of dinner parts to grandma cuz she didn’t get down here. I also didn’t need to force folks to clean up their belongings from the catch all dining room table. Granted, I have things on part of it cuz I am too tired to climb stairs and get it out each time I want to use it!!
I did have a few culinary mishaps this weekend. My pie crust was terrible, the dipped strawberries were surprisingly messy, and the ham was ridiculous!! But, with enough whipped topping and taters, you can cover a multitude of food mayhem!!

    1. Thanks, Kris. I like that with enough cheese or gravy I can repair almost any food mishap 😂
