Chef Pete Evans and COVID-19

Regular readers know that I’ve no fondness for chef Pete Evans after his remarks about iodised salt. His erroneous thinking, if it caught on, would leave Australia as a land of cretins.

Get Pete Evans off My Kitchen Rules (MKR)

This week, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) issued Mr Evans’ company with an infringement notice after the TGA found Mr Evans’ company breached the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.

I mentioned this on Yummy Lummy yesterday. Apparently Mr Evans went hard on his supplements complementary and alternative medicine (SCAM) services with an alleged cure for COVID-19. I shudder when I think about a gullible person buying that device and then thinking they were cured and going out into the community potentially infecting others.

How is the physical distancing going?

It’s been odd. I live a pretty solitary life when I’m not at work. It suits me and my personality. I have been feeling cooped up though. I’ve been chatting with online friends through either social media apps or sending text messages. I feel like when this is over, I may want to be more physically sociable. We’ll see how long that feeling lasts though 😂

I’ve also been enjoying Group FaceTime with my daughters and I’m speaking with Mum and Dad on the telephone most days.

I really want to visit the homeland though and hug my kids.

What have I watched this week?

For the last few years, I have subscribed to Amazon Prime for Star Trek Picard and the Grand Tour. One of the more recent benefits was being able to watch Australian comedian Judith Lucy and her special. She has a routine which describes her love life and the most recent break up she’s experienced as she enters her 50s.

It’s hilarious to watch and listen to. It’s definitely not safe for work and, the finale is extraordinary with a portrait of sorts.

If you like quite vulgar deadpan humour, I think you’ll enjoy Judith Lucy’s special on Amazon.

What have I listened to this week?

Oddly enough, I haven’t been in the mood to listen to the usual Star Trek podcasts I enjoy.

Probably the only podcast I now consistently listen to is No Such Thing as a Fish hosted by the elves from the TV show, QI.

What have I eaten this week?

This is a tiled gallery of photographs of food because this is what I do best.

Yummy Lummy

So last night I shared a recipe for pork belly and red cabbage.

It was a most enjoyable meal. Please check out the post on YummyLummy.com

Final thoughts

  • How are you doing with physical distancing at the moment?
  • How do you feel about people who allegedly take advantage of the gullible?
  • If you want to connect with me more directly send me a DM on Twitter and I’m happy to connect via text message.

  1. Oh yeah!!! Could not agree with you more over Pete Evans. What a tool, and a tool that can cause many a stupid person harm. Hope you can hug your girls soon, Gary.

  2. I get so mad when taken advantage of. It has happened more than once to me and I am slowly learning. I get blazing mad at politics in the US and how it is treating the virus. I keep wondering what makes the US so different from the rest of the world..besides arrogance!
I loved the chocolate chicken segments in your photos- Oddly, I think that is an actual food. Yup, looked it up. Spicy chocolate chicken. Yours is one hundred percent cuter!!!
I have discovered one thing different with today. I get grumpy more often and lose my temper. Thankfully, the eldest calls now and then and I’m able to communicate with him (my family talks more to each other than me!).

    1. Thanks, Kris. It’s been fascinating waking up every day and listening to world leaders speaking about how COVID-19 is progressing in their nations.
I hope you stay safe and find happiness Kris. I’m finding myself not getting grumpy but just bewildered because of the amount of stupidity in the world right now.
